On March 25th, President Trump signed an executive order mandating that by September 30, 2025 all federal departments and agencies end their use and acceptance of paper payments, including checks and money orders.

Under the order, any payments made to the IRS will be required to be digital, including Tax Payments, Estimated Tax Payments, and Payroll Tax Payments.

If you do not opt to have payments withdrawn automatically from your checking account when we file your taxes, you may go online to https://www.irs.gov/payments and make the payments manually. If you need assistance with this, please call or come in to our office and we can help you make your payment.

Refunds from the IRS will be sent via electronic transfer, like direct deposit. There will be limited exceptions for those who do not have access to banking services or electronic payment options, including the use of prepaid debit cards, similar to those used for Covid Economic Impact Payments. If you have not provided your account information for direct deposit, we will reach out to get that from you. It is unknown at the time of this letter how long refund processing times will be for those who do not have banking information included on their return.

Any updates to this mandate will be posted on our website (toyercpa.com) in the “News” section, yet if you have any questions, you may call our office.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we implement these changes into our tax preparation system.
